Freelance VO Audio Engineer

PitStop is seeking a highly motivated Freelance Audio Engineer to join our growing Voiceover Production team at our recording studios in Croydon, expanding our pool of Freelance Audio Engineers. 

The successful candidate will be required to record dialogue during Voiceover and Motion Capture sessions, with exceptional technical standards and bring fresh ideas to enhance our workflow. 

You will be working within PitStop’s team of 100+ passionate creatives based in South Yorkshire and London, across the Voice, Sound Design, Music and Visual departments who are working on a huge range of video game titles from Indie to AAA, so they can deliver amazing audio content to our worldwide clients across the videogames industry. We’re looking for individuals who would thrive in this creative environment and contribute to the team.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who loves working with fellow audio professionals, and is looking to further hone their craft in Game Audio whilst creating AAA video games.

Responsibilities:

  • Engineer studio recording sessions including VO, Motion Capture dialogue, and ADR alongside Directors and Motion Capture engineers, 

  • Understand the needs of the project to plan and execute high quality voiceover recording throughout developmentPost-Production, and Pre-Production teams, either before, during, or after recording sessions,

  • Expertly describe technical behaviour and problems when communicating with Direction, 

  • Problem solve and devise creative solutions to the complex challenges which can arise within the game development cycle.

Essential experience and skills:

  • Experience in a Post-Production recording environment, specialising in recording a range of Dialogue to a high-standard

  • Expert knowledge of using industry standard DAWs. Specifically REAPER as our DAW of choice but otherwise; Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Ableton etc. for transferable skills

  • Demonstrate a proven reliability with time management and an understanding of the importance of meeting self-set and externally set targets

  • Broad knowledge of studio recording techniques with a desire to achieve the highest production standards

  • A proactive and resourceful approach to tackling technical challenges, seeking innovative solutions

Desired experience and skills:

  • Full cycle development experience working on a shipped AAA title in the Games Industry

  • BA/BSc degree in Audio Engineering/Game Audio/Audio Production or equivalent experience

  • Good proficiency in using Microsoft Office Software Packages and Google Docs

Details:

Working hours: 9.30am - 6pm working Monday - Friday, with a one hour unpaid lunch break

Contract Type : Freelance 

Day Rate : £150 for a Full Day / £90 for a Half Day

 

This position will be held at our studio in Croydon, CR0 1YB. Please ensure you are willing to commute or relocate in order to attend the studio.

Interviews will take place throughout January 2025.
